Asian Spotlight:
Please tell us a little bit about yourself and your work.
Garrett Blair : As a kid, I grew up surrounded by movies and comics. My parents had (and still run) their own comics, collectibles and video sales company, known as Captain Bijou, so I was exposed to all sorts of classics like Space Patrol, Abbott and Costello and Hopalong Cassidy, among many others. I used to help by labeling catalogs and video tapes and bagging Life magazines, while listening to classic radio shows like Challenge of the Yukon and X Minus One. When all the other kids were watching Freddy's and Jason's, I was watching old Roy Rogers and Wonder Woman TV shows on the 16mm projector. I've been drawing as early as I can remember, learning by watching my brother, Scott, draw or from the Ninja Turtles and Captain Carrot comics I collected back then. Since I've grown up with the self-employed work skills, I've combined it with my love for drawing and its taken me to where I am now.

Asian Spotlight: Do you have a favorite among your work?
Garrett Blair : Yes, I have a few, but I think what comes to my mind more is just that it is still growing and developing. I sometimes shudder looking back at older pieces around the beginning of this decade. I loved the 50 Foot Woman series and may bring it back in the near future. A lot of my love goes into the series like the Game Galz and X-Babes and Children of the Night.

Asian Spotlight:
Who influence your style of art?
Garrett Blair : There are quite a few artists that influence and inspire my art. I guess the most obvious would be J. Scott Campbell (Danger Girl), but others include Akira Toriyama (Dragonball), Yukito Kishiro (Battle Angel), Art Adams, Bernie Wrightson and even Steve Purcell (Sam and Max). My brother, Scott, has always been an influence and inspiration as well.

Asian Spotlight:
What can our readers expect from you in the future?
Garrett Blair : Well, 'expect' is kinda rough, and I wish I could expect things in the future, too. Joking aside, if I'm fortunate and things work out, I've got a lot stored up ready to share. And if everything goes right, you'll get to see a huge, complex universe that spans across thousands of years teeming with cyborgs, aliens, demons and best of all, bounty hunters. There are many different characters and stories that work like pieces in a puzzle to weave together and reveal a much bigger picture and the event that triggered it all. That's the life work I want to accomplish. Other than that, there are quite a bit of scripts to write, stories to tell and artworks to draw.
Asian Spotlight:
Thanks you so much for this interview. Any last words for our readers and your fans?
Garrett Blair : I am very grateful to all the fans and their support. In fact, there's no way I could do this without them. I always enjoy reading feedback from fans and it inspires me to try my hardest to create new artworks and stories. Thank you all for your interest and support! Garrett-Blair.com
